Central St Martin’s graduate, Nathan French’s latest AW14 collection sings of 1930s drama and femininity. The collection of opulent feather and hair dresses were heavily inspired by exotic Indian birds of paradise and the hourglass silhouettes create a form of armour; with each piece a form of artistic expression.
A mix of electrifying pinks, subtle layers of teal alongside the deepest of blacks highlight the designer’s varied sources of inspiration – from India, the Middle East and Africa. French combines visual artistic representations from these various origins, adding this into his love of taxidermy & Victoriana – the influences of which are evident in this collection.
Nathan French’s designs have been seen on noted celebrities, include Kelis, Cara Delevigne and Diane Përnet, where the theatre and feminine edge creates a winning formula.
