The collaboration brings the much-loved Japanese character into Strawberry Western’s colourful universe, where gingham trims, illustrated prints and deliberately youthful silhouettes feel wonderfully unapologetic. The Sweet Shopper Tankpairs Chibi Maruko-chan artwork with red-and-white gingham detailing, creating a piece that feels somewhere between a treasured childhood drawing and early-2000s street style. That sense of playful familiarity continues through the Carryall Bag, towel and handmade ceramic mug, while raglan and Playtime tops, character keychains, umbrellas and accessories expand the collaboration into something closer to a miniature lifestyle world.

Yet beneath the sweetness sits something decidedly current. The low-rise denim, fitted proportions and kitsch graphics seen throughout the campaign tap beautifully into fashion’s continuing fascination with Y2K dressing, while the intimate photography gives everything an effortlessly lived-in quality.

This is nostalgia without becoming costume. Strawberry Western takes Chibi Maruko Chan’s innocence and gives it a mischievous contemporary edge—cute, eccentric and knowingly cool.
