Velvet and jewel encrusted tones are the words that came to mind after viewing the introduction of the Michael van der Ham AW11 collection. The luscious colours and deep rich tones were reflected in the draped velvet mini and mid length dresses, as well as asymmetric tops with voluminous trouser combinations; mustard, cobalt blue and plum being key colours in the pieces.

A sophisticated mini capsule collection of patchwork like layered fabrics followed, with glitter and floral panels reminiscent of the art deco period, and then followed nipped-in waists, a muted palette and then dazzling tasselled tailored trousers to apparently complete the look.

This was somewhat a mishmash of a collection, but the individual looks stood beautifully alone.
