On the opening day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York Barcelona based brand Desigual showed its Spring 2014 collection titled “For Everybody: Sex, Fun & Love”. The collection is fun, colourful and playful and most of all cheerful! Models were told to smile, be playful and “not be afraid to show teeth”, making the show stand apart from the serious solemnity seen in other shows. We may have a long dark winter ahead of us but the tropical colours and bright smiles seen in today’s show have everyone thinking about warm summer nights and Spanish holidays.
The show is significant for the Barcelona based brand as it is the first time it is showing at New York Fashion Week, and coincides with the opening of its new store on Fifth Avenue.
The collection resonated art, with kaleidoscopic patterns and paint brush strokes making up flowers and circles. This mix of digital and natural influences kept the collection modern, fresh and spring like.
