The husband and wife duo of Lubov and Max Azria fuse feminine flowing florals with crisp masculine tailoring in the Spring Summer 2014 collection shown at NYFW. The palette is soft and neutral, with a strong focus on whites, greys and blues. Impressionist style flowers and patterns add yellows, blues and purples to sheer dresses and trousers. Bare faced models with tousled hair added to the natural bohemian look of the show. The most impressive aspect of the collection was the attention to detail in the tailoring. The classic men’s white shirt is completely transformed in an array of garments, from the crop top shirt to the loose asymmetrical shirt dress. A unique and surprising feature of the shirt dress is the unstructured back, which flows strait down separately from the waistband that clinches the garment’s front. In contrast with the sharp folded cotton and linen, maxi dresses and trousers flowed freely in a loose silhouette. These pieces have a relaxed elegance that must have caught the eye of A-lister Heidi Klum who watched the show from the front row.
