Zimmermann is a very influential fashion designer. No it's not the fool who wants to box in a ring with fallen rapper DMX. It's Nicky Zimmermann from down under - Australia. Nicky grew up in Southern Sydney and learned to sew from a very young age. She graduated in fashion from a Sydney design school and now has collections at most NY fashion weeks. Her recent showcase at the Lincoln Centre displayed a vast array of large, floppy outwear pieces; many of them had cutouts around the waist. The colour palette ranged from lilac and mauve to mint blue and dreamy peach. With so much layering she risked throwing in a few fur pieces for a trans-seasonal look. Zimmermann decided to showcase her work to support her growing store presence in the US. She has a store in LA and one in SOHO - NYC and will soon open one in the Hamptons. It's all part of Zimmermann's larger global business strategy. Zimmermann's showcase and designs were paradoxical leaning towards the reserved/conservative but with a wild, crazy edge too. Fashionista/socialite/designer and Australian TV personality Lara Bingle came out in support to watch the show. She was accompanied by Aussie model Nicole Trunfio - the current face of ULTA.
