Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture collection

The Enfant Terrible of fashion lives up to his reputation with his exquisitely luxurious haute couture collection with, as always, a subversive and playful twist.

Gaultier bases the collection on vampires and ghosts, creating rich, gothic gowns in this autumns palette which he describes as “blood red, virginal white, black Sabbath, the silver of a knife, and the gold of religion.”

Ombre red hues melt into black in hourglass gowns, creating a ghostly air evoking haunted castles. The gowns are beautifully adorned in freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals. Silhouettes were feminine with clenched waists and skirts either large, OTT and crinolined with large OTT chainmail prints; or femme fatal figure hugging.

Gaultier added to the sexy gothic theme with the make-up, which consisted of ghostly minimalist foundation and blood red lipstick.  As always, Jean Paul closed the show on spectacularly unexpected fashion following out LGBT icon and winner of Eurovision Conchita Wurst.
