Paris, June 24, 2024 — Dior presented its Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 collection at the Musée Rodin, showcasing a fusion of innovation and homage. Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri found inspiration in the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games, honoring athletes who have overcome barriers from antiquity to the present.
Chiuri's collection celebrated athleticism and political freedom, centered around the peplum, a garment rooted in ancient history, reimagined with modern sophistication. Breaking traditional couture norms, Chiuri introduced jersey fabric, transforming it into a metal mesh in gold, silver, and white. This material draped gracefully, enhancing the silhouette with ultralight inner bustiers.
The star-studded event included guests like Bianca Brandolini d'Adda and Pia Wurtzbach, who added to the evening's glamour. Models embodied resilience and triumph, reflecting Chiuri's vision.
Behind the scenes, the collaboration between Chiuri and make-up artist Peter Philips brought the collection's vision to life. Philips embraced a "glistening and radiant" aesthetic, inspired by gold medals symbolizing victory, with glowing skin and gold-dusted eyes.
Philips initially considered a blue palette but chose to honor the golden glow of athletic achievement. Using the Diorshow 5 Couleurs palette in #539 Grand Bal, he applied the metallic shade from lash to brow. To enhance lash fullness without heavy mascara, he subtly pushed the darkest shadow into the roots, adhering to Chiuri’s preference for a natural look.
The makeup base, created with Dior Capture Totale Le Sérum and Dior Capture Totale Hyalushot, provided a radiant foundation. The finishing touch, Dior Forever Glow Star Filter, added a delicate shimmer, reflecting the collection's athletic grace and beauty.
The Dior Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 show was a celebration of freedom, strength, and elegance. Maria Grazia Chiuri’s designs honored the spirit of athletes, merging traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation. As the models concluded their walk, the audience was left inspired by a collection that beautifully combined historical homage with contemporary sophistication.
