Atelier Versace SS14 Haute Couture

The Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Haute Couture collection was very clearly inspired by two of the most powerful females in showbiz: Grace Jones and Lady Gaga. Arriving alongside a hooded Lady Gaga, the face of the spring advertising campaign, Donatella got Couture Week off to a very elegant start.

The designer combined sheer tulle panels and cut out designs with silk and jersey fabrics, adding a finishing touch of glamour with beaded details. Embellished with Swarovski crystals, the dresses were gracefully draped to create a sleek but powerful silhouette with thigh-high splits, while the rich colours were broken up by glitter, fur and tattoo-style embroidery. As the models strutted down the catwalk to Lady Gaga’s ‘Donatella’ – a song inspired by the designer from her recent ‘Artpop’ album - and ‘Born This Way’, their hooded dresses paid homage to 80s icon Grace Jones.

A collection that screams ‘goddess’ and ‘diva’ in equal measure, the floor-sweeping gowns were a perfect combination of sexy and glamorous and guaranteed to be seen  all over the red carpet this spring.
