Nathan French AW14

Central St Martin’s graduate, Nathan French’s latest AW14 collection sings of 1930s drama and femininity. The collection of opulent feather and hair dresses were heavily inspired by exotic Indian birds of paradise and the hourglass silhouettes create a form of armour; with each piece a form of artistic expression.

A mix of electrifying pinks, subtle layers of teal alongside the deepest of blacks highlight the designer’s varied sources of inspiration – from India, the Middle East and Africa. French combines visual artistic representations from these various origins, adding this into his love of taxidermy & Victoriana – the influences of which are evident in this collection.

Nathan French’s designs have been seen on noted celebrities, include Kelis, Cara Delevigne and Diane Përnet, where the theatre and feminine edge creates a winning formula.

Busardi AW14

London Fashion week has come to an end. What really is astounding is the ingenuity of humans and their ability to create beauty with their vivid and intricate imagination. Innovation using fabrics, textures, colour schemes, patterns , layering and cuts was in abundance. I think we really forget or underestimate human's ability to visualise, project and create. Art is truly a manifestation of the human spirit, the mind's eye, thoughts and our potential. Our originality is beyond belief and we are very lucky to be surrounded by these manifestation in all their forms on a daily basis. The great thing about fashion is it also performs a function. We need to be clothed and clothed accordingly based on the environment.

I was privileged with the opportunity of viewing the Busardi presentation last week, Forward PR did a great job promoting the collection.

Busardi's designs are based on the old fashioned couture practices of Parisian fashion houses. If you look closely at the embroidery and splendid floral lace work - you will be mesmerised by the craftsmanship and tailoring, though Busardi is actually based in Bangkok not Paris.

The collection was elegant, regal and refined. There were so many clinched waistlines with bold, sheer panels and just as many 'separates' to evening gowns, the ratio was equitable. The lace appliques were embossed with rose shapes which derive from an ultra feminine and luxurious look. The fabric palette consisted of lace, organza, tulle, silks from Japan and Thailand and duchess satin. The colour range was made up of pinks, sultry purples, electric blue and deep aqua. All the colours were rich and the make -up on the models conjured up images of the dark side of luxe. Uplifting and transcendent in many regards but with equal measures of deep romance and mysterious, velvety, rich, intense seduction.

Is Nicole Farhi about to make a huge comeback? If the intimate show put on at London Fashion Week earlier this week is anything to go by, we certainly think it should. The Autumn/Winter 2014 womenswear collection, designed with words such as ‘protection’ and ‘sanctuary’ as its main inspiration, featured a natural palette of charcoal, navy and chocolate accented with soft duck-egg, lemon and sage.

Just like the colour palette, fabrics and silhouettes had an air of subtle femininity. Midi skirts in sheer georgette and bonded shine and silk tunics hung softly as models made their way down the catwalk and canapés made their way round the room. Ultra light or bold and textured, each piece falls halfway between classic and modern.

Designed with comfort and poise in mind, baggy trousers and clean silhouettes are broken up by elastic synch, asymmetric lines and graphic fur camera bags. Although a cohesive collection, checkerboard woven jackets with fur collars are undoubtedly lead the soft-hued separates. This is casual at its most luxurious.

Ong Oaj Pairam AW14

Stepping into the wild world of Ong-Oaj Pairam where the British/Thai designer showcased his third season for the AW14 collection.   It was interesting that his inspiration came from comic books Super Villains and his favourite anti-hero Ursula from Disney’s Little Mermaid (Spooky)..

It was a very much 50′s inspired collection with A-lines cinched in waist skirts and flowy dresses and a range of graphic prints and strong colours.  The dark printed dresses were inspired by the darker works of American modernist artist Charlie Harper and these are strikingly paired with acid bright bomber jackets.

Brit Awards 2014

The Brit Awards last night attracted many stars and celebs from the world's entertainment industry. Held at the O2 centre in London, groups such as the Artic Monkeys and One Direction scooped up the 2014 awards.

Our honorary Brit Kylie Minogue arrived in a hot latex dress made by latex costumier William Wilde. The PVC latex dress was skin tight, in fact that is an understatement it was glued to her ! The dress had a huge bow detailing on the shoulder she also wore bold, diamond-drop earrings and high perspex heeled shoes. This petite little beauty gained cheers from the crowds as she graced the red carpet with sister Danni.

British former X factor programme singer and vocalist Rebecca Ferguson also turned up with heaps of charm.  She wore a figure-hugging white dress with inset mesh and fishnet panels. Rebecca held on to a clear perspex clutch bag and wore the most dainty neon-coloured court shoes.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely looked  absolutely divine in a red and black, Yves Saint Laurent sequinned zebra print mini dress. She sported a big black bow belt and matching black court shoes. Our press team voted Rosie's dress and outfit as the best on the night. All in all a very glitzy evening brimming with talent.
