Milan SS14

Milan Fashion week has been very interesting. Tomorrow will be the last day on the Milanese runway. The themes this year were juxtaposed in every sense. Religious overtones were manifested by a show of alter boy Sicilian shirts teamed up with high-waisted trousers in the menswear collection.  Another prominent feature was the Goth chic look. D&G focused on displaying colourful, gem embellished, chalice bustiers. Giorgio Armani's collection was inspired by an androgynous gaze; using wide fit trousers, braces and hats. The colour palette was comprised of dusky pinks, green florals, blues and nuanced greys.

I particularly liked the sheer leggings which were teamed up with brogue shoes. The floral motif sandals were fun while pleats and panels on leather jackets with bright, flowery themes plunged me in to the depths of pattern intricacy. The light monochrome suits seemed to arouse cheers from the crowds, all in all, very sophisticated tailoring with clean cuts and the right dose of elegance. Armani managed 94 looks in total !

Etro SS14

My favourite collection by far had to be Etro's SS14 presentation. Etro's garments on the runway flowed,  there were wide-legged trouser jumpsuits and shirts without collars. Bohemian elements were apparent throughout. Tassled-scarves, pea green coats and a rich palette of beige, zesty yellow, some pastels and Persian turquoise all contributed to the atmosphere.

It was a very exotic set of designs. The metallic paisley belts really stood out.

I loved the way the models worked the ankle length wide-hemmed trousers on the catwalk, these trousers were often coupled up with loose fitting knitted vests. Also worth noting were the Incredible plunge neck dresses which fell right in to the navel, these dresses were enhanced by Chic Boho accessories which clearly bolstered the Marrakech look.

The Versace collection opened up with a Drake tune, the collection was frivolously disconnected, which seemed to work.  People were tapping their feet to the music and appreciated the studded jackets on display. They are so rebellious and us Brits love rock inspired clothing, the body chains proved just as popular, the onlookers roared with cheers proving that the Rock chic look is timeless. If one were to sum up Milan's fashion week with flashcards they would run like this gothic, religious, marrakech, paisley, bohemian and rock chic.

I'm flashed out, now let's focus on Paris Fashion week. Allez-y !
