Screen Actors Guild AwardsThe 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, honouring the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 2015, were presented on January 30, 2016, at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. From swooping necklines to layers of tulle, I couldn't get enough of the Celebs well thought out ensembles on the night.

It was Alicia Vikander’s night to shine and Alicia certainly did that as she headed to the stage to pick up her Best Supporting Actress prize at the SAG Awards. The stunning actress, who was honoured for her role in The Danish Girl, wore a long-sleeved Louis Vuitton gown which was completely covered in metallic, black and white sequins. I adored the black, gold, and silver abstract, in a mixed-metal, colour-block gown by Louis Vuitton, the sequined rectangles give the dress a really statement look. Of course, it's the sequin material that really packs the style punch though. While her poses on the red carpet didn't do the dress justice, Alicia ensured all eyes were on her as she headed to the stage to pick up her trophy. The star put on a very leggy display as she showed off her perfect pins in the daring number, which boasted a split up to her thigh. The 27-year- old Danish Girl star’s brown eyes received a metallic boost with molten makeup, and highlighted her stunning features. “I created a modern, soft smoky eye by using gold shadows to compliment the gorgeous [Louis Vuitton] gown,” celeb makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury told reporters. The pro used her own Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow as a base and then applied the golden shade from her Bette Luxury Palette in The Vintage Vamp to the inner corners and middles of the lids. She added definition with Rock ’N’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil in Barbarella Brown on the outer corners of the top lash line and finished with Full Fat Lashes in Glossy Black.

 Eva Longoria SAG Awards

The SAG Awards marked Eva Longoria’s first red carpet appearance, with her fiancé Jose Antonio Baston . The gorgeous 40-year-old was beyond stunning in her intricately-beaded Julien Macdonald green dress with plunging neckline, which showed a classy amount of cleavage and hugged Eva’s spectacular figure in all the right places. Eva Longoria teamed her dress with a pair of beautiful emerald earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. For her footwear, Longoria opted for strappy black sandals. Eva made sure to flaunt her best assets and flashed a major part of her derriere. In addition to the patchwork, there were some daring sheer mesh panels of her dress that allowed the pretty actress to flaunt her toned abs, legs, ample cleavage and derriere. The dress also had an open back and head-to-toe beading. This gave a shimmering effect to her attire. While Eva whose soft brunette sleek locks were styled by Ken Paves, she sported smokey eye make-up and nude lipstick, and of course her new ruby engagement ring.

 Rachel McAdam

Rachel McAdams quite simply steals the 'Spotlight' in an embellished Midnight black gown as her film wins Outstanding Performance By A Cast at SAG Awards. Rachel McAdams is not new to the red carpet but she had an extra sparkle this time around. Rachel commanded attention in a black mesh and heavily embellished gown by designer Ellie Saab with sparkly details throughout. She had the added benefit of a tousled blonde 'do and understated make-up while posing in all her glory ahead of the show. Diamond earrings and rings sparkled while she made her way towards the auditorium, competing with the glittery additions woven into the fabric of her dress. Nude and black is one of my favourite colour combinations, and Ms. McAdams is really showing us how it's supposed to be done. From the floor-length train to the cinched in waist, it's a dress of a thousand intricacies, and the dotted lace floral embellishments completed the show-stopping gown. Dove celebrity stylist Mark Townsend balanced out the Spotlight actress’ Ellie Saab gown with “a sexy nod to the 1930s coif.” To boost the texture, Townsend started with Dove Regenerative Nourishment Serum-in-Oil on damp hair. After blow-drying, he used the GHD Curve Classic Curl Iron for loose waves on the underneath section and the GHD Platinum Styler for S-shaped bends in the top section. He set the hair and let it cool. “Once I removed the clips, I sprayed her blonde locks with lots and lots of Dove Refresh+Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo for volume, texture and grit,” he told reporters.

The likes of Helen Mirren proved that beauty has no age, almost stealing the show with her timeless youthful good looks and class. Dazzling at the age of 70 in her sparkling Jenny Packman dress. Helen had no fear showing off her curves in her silver gown, as the dress hugged her body and elegantly draped at her feet. The 3/4-sleeve frock even offered a little sexiness with a slight v-neck. But perhaps the best part about Helen’s dress was how it sparkled on the carpet. Covered in jewels, the bedazzled gown made Helen shine even more than she already does! Although the dress provided plenty of glimmer to Helen’s look, she paired her gown with some glittery hoop-style earrings, a diamond band bracelet, and a gold box clutch. Considering her dress was such a showstopper, she kept her hair simple with some loose waves that perfectly accented her dazzling look.

Sofia Vergara

Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images for Turner

While Sofia Vergara has caused quite a storm online as she was seen wearing a full-length Vera Wang Peptol Pink dress which had a sweetheart neckline. The 43-year-old Modern Family actress, who recently tied the knot with Joe Manganiello, wore Charlotte Olympia shoes and styled it with matching Jimmy Choo clutch. The Modern Family star sparkled in an $185,000 18k gold and platinum David Webb necklace dripping with diamonds.
She’s known all over the globe for her incredible hourglass figure, so it was a treat to see Sofia Vergara pour her curves into another show-stopping gown at last night’s SAG Awards. The stunning brunette made sure all eyes were on her in a blindingly bold hot pink dress, custom designed for her by Vera Wang. The bandeau style floor-grazing dress clung to every curve on Sofia’s much-envied physique, putting much focus on her cleavage and tiny waist. It’s plain to see this number was made for her.

Uzi Aruba Saw Awards

Orange certainly hasn’t been the new black this season’s palette, but it was really heart-warming to see the diverse cast on stage as they collected their award, with beaming smiles and appreciative speeches, their great acting certainly hasn’t gone uncredited. Yes, Uzo Aduba brought her prom date to the SAGs and from the beaming smile on his face he had a great time. She tweeted: ‘He asked me to the prom, I said yes. I asked him to SAGs, he said yes. #sagawards.’ The Orange Is The New Black star had a great night at the SAGs picking up TWO awards. She won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Uzo, who plays ‘Crazy Eyes’ on the Netflix show, looked amazing and delivered an inspirational message when she collected her trophy. Fun, eye-catching and glittering, Uzo’s Zac Posen green gown was almost as fabulous as she is — and hearkened back to one of her latest projects, NBC's "The Wiz Live!", with her a shimmering emerald green Zac Posen dress, styled by in-demand stylist Cristina Ehrlich.

Big winners on the night also included Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, the cast of Downton Abbey and Idris Elba.

Daring and diverse would be the perfect way to sum up the SAG awards this year, and neither could be more positive right now!

 BELSTAFF AW16

Belstaff took us up North as they turned the dreary Ewer Street Arches into an artic terrain as the backdrop to showcase their Autumn-Winter 2016 collection.

The vast monochrome collection is full of fur and leather, and matches style with comfort and protection from the elements. The modular hoods and linings keep you warm, protect you from the rain and keep you looking your best. It’d look great on while hiking up a mountain, but equally as amazing on a walk down the streets of London in January.

BELSTAFF Winter Jacket

I don’t believe, practicality should take precedence over style unless you live in extreme weather conditions. However, a successful collection is one in which these two elements co-exist harmoniously, as Belstaff has well achieved in their Arctic themed menswear. Aptly titled "Heading North", the AW16 collection combines Belstaff's heritage designs with the durability of cold-weather gear, thereby providing the warmest winter wardrobe.

To highlight Belstaff's approach to the collection, the brick railway arches on Ewer Street became the backdrop for a bleak and frosty scene, complete with snow and slate underfoot, and jaggered snow covered boulders adding the rugged vibe, complete with Harley Davidson military motorcycles and a converted Triumph Tiger XCX fit for the frosty conditions. The models, too, appeared set for a winter expedition, clothed in the cosiest outerwear, including wax-cotton jackets with detachable fur and shearling trims, duck-down parka jackets with fur-trimmed hoods, and water-repellent wool and cashmere overcoats. This is an autumn/winter collection that takes its season seriously, illustrating a journey that takes you through tough terrains, snowy mountains and icy glaciers in comfort and style, considering the weather we’ve been having lately, the pieces were perfect for surviving a British winter just as much as an expedition.

Belstaff Jackets

This season, new heights were reached quite literally as the theme of the collection focused on high altitude adventure riding. In a way, Belstaff are lucky in that they can pin collections to aspects of their moto/adventure/military heritage, but to pull it off in a luxury manner that doesn’t alienate old-school Belstaff fans is no easy feat. That said, Dyhr and his team are making it look easy. For AW16, detailing was key: rib cuffs, snow skirts, storm bibs, fur-lined hoods, all applied to the brand’s growing collection of iconic jacket styles in both wax cotton and leather.

BELSTAFF

Never straying too far from the signature outerwear styles pioneered by Belstaff, this season focused on technical precision and adaptability for versatile weather conditions. Removable membranes and detachable shearling are examples of obvious climate changing features, however the brand has been developing technically advanced nylon/fleece combinations for hoodies and lightweight cashmere for motorcycle scarves. Biker jackets come in oiled Nubuck styles filled with down, while powder white four-pocket parkas feature fur-trimmed hoods and engineered wool and nylon linings to insulate. Other styles to come in a variety of leathers, water repellent wools and nylons include the classic Speedmaster, Aviator and a rendered 1950’s style Riding jacket adapted for today’s modern motorcycle rider.

Key accessories were developed for Belstaff’s latest collection, aptly named ‘The Masters’, including six bag style shapes in 3 various fabrications, including waxy leather and rough textured nylon.

Belstaff was chosen as a sole partner to celebrate the new 'Zoolander 2' film during London Collections Men with the creation of a bespoke Ciroc cocktail conjuring up both the cold and Zoolanders classic pose 'Blue Steel', which was being served in abundance. A cocktail which was simply as creative as the collection itself.

Maharishi AW16

Maharishi’s Devotional uniform and habits: ll AW 16 collection previewed last Saturday at London Collections men, bringing 90’s nostalgia to the catwalk. A specialist in military fashion, Maharishi’s ‘utility chic’ pieces epitomized uniformity, street wear, and even tribalism.

 Maharishi Male model

The graphic camouflage references and rustic colour palette allowed technology to meet nature, reflecting much of the brands previous collections. The loose silhouettes also reflect ongoing themes of religious devotion and contemporary gang member style… take the robe like jackets inspired by Tibetan Buddest monks, Military overalls and badges. Not to mention every model wore a pair of Hi Tech Army training shoes known to be England and Germany’s long term supplier.

The fusion of complex subcultures and moral codes all embody the idea of East meeting west, the collection pushes boundaries and ruffles the norms of what is expected on today’s high fashion catwalks.

"Barbour AW16

Last Friday, British brand Barbour played tribute to its heritage with its Autumn Winter 2016 collection at London Collections: Mens.

With a focus on the entire outfit – rather than just the outerwear that the brand is best known for – Barbour showcased its 2 main looks for next season: Night Watch and Ancient Tartan.

Barbour AW16

Combining the traditional with the modern, the former offers a re-imagined collection of some of Barbour’s classic styles. With black leading as the predominant colour, the focus lies mainly on the innovative use of technical fabrics and the positioning of pockets and zips.

Wax jackets are the standout pieces in the collection and come in a range of lengths. Combining practicality with style, the functionality of every detail from waterproof zips to large pockets has been considered.

The second collection, Ancient Tartan, pays homage to one of the brand’s exclusive prints. Its design originates from the same Scottish district in which the name ‘Barbour’ itself originated in the 14th Century.

Barbour

The Ancient Tartan was first introduced as a lining on Barbour’s classic wax jackets in the 1990’s and the colours took centre stage for Autumn Winter 2016, creating a sophisticated colour palette of creams, yellows and greens.

During the presentation, Barbour also showcased its fourth capsule collection with White Mountaineering. The collaboration combines the best of both brands with Barbour’s classic tartan lining the brightly coloured Crux jacket.

Barbour’s Director of Menswear, Ian Bergin, said the collection combines the best of Barbour’s archives with modern styles to “represent what Barbour is today”.

As Jane Taylor launched her flagship store in Chelsea this week, she pledges to give the same royal treatment to every customer that she grants long term customers The Countess of Wessex, who attended the launch, and The Duchess of Cambridge.

Jane Taylor Hats

Her hats really are something special, combining heritage and exotic elements they exude luxury and creativity. When looking at the beautiful garments, it is interesting to see them as a product of Jane’s upbringing. Her father’s engineering background must have inspired the attention to structure which makes the signature round hats seem to defy gravity. Jane’s mother was a florist who created floral displays for Royal Ascot and Buckingham Palace, and I can see this combination of nature with high society in her collection that sees hounds tooth alongside bright tall feathers.

Emma Walsh Louise Thompson Made in Chelsea

As well as her parents, another influencer in Jane’s life is her mentor, Theo Paphitis, who attended the King’s Road launch with fellow Dragon, Deborah Meaden. The store, on one of the most stylish streets in the country will enable the Jane Taylor London brand to offer ready-to-wear hats, with matching gloves and handbags, as well as the bespoke designs enjoyed by Beyoncé, Kate Moss and The Royals. Along with the capital’s fashionistas, the ladies of Made in Chelsea attended the launch to welcome the new brand on the block.

In Summer 2016 the crowds of Ascot and Cheltenham will be topped with an array of Jane Taylor London hats, and I look forward to seeing more of her timeless designs.
